Bold predictions for 2025

As I flew into Japan on a grueling 24-hour, 3-leg trip, I jotted down some notes on some of the most exciting things I’d love to see happen before the end of 2025. Here’s what’s on my mind:

• Agents performing batch wallet operations: Imagine automated agents handling mundane wallet tasks, like moving NFTs into a vault wallet once their value passes a certain threshold. While it might seem mundane at first, this could pave the way for agentic wallet apps that manage wealth on behalf of users.

• A high-caliber consumer internet founder builds a viral DeFi app: I’d love to see someone with a background in creating viral consumer apps bring that energy into DeFi, leveraging token-incentivized growth to spark a new wave of adoption.

• College-based exclusive trading clubs: Picture trading clubs with their own tokens, accessible only to those with edu email addresses. These could foster early financial education and innovation, while spurring a Facebook-like, curated, early network effect.

• Memecoins finding greater purpose: Memecoins merging with equity-like properties and eventually converting to real tokenized equities as regulatory clarity improves could give them a more tangible and lasting role.

• Solana REV goes >10x: I think it’s achievable given the pace of new emergent use-cases the network is handling in tandem.

• Exactly one ETF gets approved: The regulatory shifts in 2025 might just give us one crypto ETF. Just one.

• A US politician cedes decision-making to a DAO: Imagine a politician token-gating commentary or even delegating some decisions to their largest on-chain supporters via a DAO. This could redefine how leaders engage with their communities.
